Where it's used

• Submersible and openwell pump delivery lines
• Any pumped main where backflow would empty the line
• Protecting a pump on a long or steeply rising delivery run

Installation recommendations

Fit it with the flow arrow pointing away from the pump — a non-return valve installed backwards blocks the line completely and is diagnosed as a dead pump surprisingly often. Bolt the flanges up evenly, tightening opposite pairs so the gasket seats square. Support the pipe either side so the valve body is not carrying the line's weight. Start the pump against a partly open valve the first time and listen: a hard slam on shutdown means the line needs a slower closing arrangement, not a heavier valve.
