Benefits

Drippers are welded inside the pipe as it is extruded, so there is nothing to fit in the field and nothing to work loose when the lateral is rolled up
Water is delivered at the root zone instead of across the whole field, which typically cuts consumption by 40–60% against flood irrigation on the same crop
Even discharge from the first plant to the last, so the head of the row is not drowned while the tail starves
Only the crop row is wetted, so weed growth between the rows drops sharply and so does the labour spent on it
Takes water-soluble fertiliser through the same line, putting nutrients where the roots actually are

Installation recommendations

Lay the lateral along the crop row once the mainline and submain are charged and flushed. Connect to the submain with a grommet and take-off rather than cutting into the pipe — a cut joint is the first thing to leak. Leave the far end open and run the system for a few minutes so grit is carried out, then close it with an end cap. Hold the line between 1 and 2 kg/cm²: above that the joints creep, below it the last drippers on a long run go dry.

Before you buy

How do I choose between 40 cm inline and online drip?

Use this inline pipe where the plants sit at roughly even spacing — the drippers are fixed at 40 cm and you cannot move them. For orchards, widely spaced fruit, or anything irregular, use the online pipe and punch drippers where the plants really are.

Do I need a filter?

Yes. A 120-mesh screen or disc filter at the pump is the difference between a lateral that runs for several seasons and one that blocks in the first. If the bore throws sand, put a sand separator ahead of the filter as well — a screen alone will not hold it.

Can I run fertiliser through it?

Yes, fully water-soluble grades only, injected through a venturi or a fertiliser tank. Flush with clear water for about ten minutes afterwards, or the salts dry inside the emitters and block them from the inside.

What happens if the pressure is too high?

Above the rated range the pipe balloons slightly and take-offs start weeping at the grommet. It rarely bursts — it just leaks in a dozen places at once and the discharge stops being even. Fit a pressure gauge at the head and throttle the valve rather than the pump.

How should it be stored between seasons?

Roll it rather than dragging it, keep it out of direct sun, and store it off the ground away from rodents. UV and rats end far more coils than water pressure does.
